May’s Celebration Cakes And Bakes (with April’s round up)

Rainbow cakesHere we are in May already (quite a bit into May actually) and the year seems to be slipping away! So far this month we’ve have meetings about our son starting school in September with additional needs, a last minute holiday to Center Parcs to replace the one we missed due to illness in March and a blogging conference in Manchester called Blog On.

Sometimes life seems to take over and I find myself simply not having time to write, it isn’t that I don’t want to but there are only so many hours in the day and having a 2 year old (nearly 3) who insists on getting up at 6AM means I sadly can’t stay up ’till 2 in the morning anymore. I am still baking though and I have a lovely stockpile of cakes to share with you. Today’s bake was rainbow frosted cupcakes for our local preschool’s open day. We got back from Center Parcs last night so I needed to do something super quick that would look pretty. These pretties are just Vanilla Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting but with lines of food colouring painted down the sides of the piping bag, simple quick and very effective.

As well as my own cakes I am only just finding time to share the entries to last month’s Celebration Cakes And Bakes Linky, we had my own Team Honk layer cake with hidden red noses and a chequered flag, designed to show the route take by the team honk batton from Lands’ end to John o’ Groats.

There were also two entries from Jenny at Mummy Mishaps, a super cool Monkey Birthday cake (plus party food and another monkey cake as a bonus) and her Sport relief Swimming pool cake complete with swimmers. I loved how inventive the decoration was on the pool cake.

If you’re inspired by these lovely cakes why not link up your own creation below?

The rules:

You must have made the bake yourself – no buying from the local cake shop ;)

It must be a post about making the bake – it doesn’t have to be a full on recipe but it does need to be in the spirit of the thing.

It doesn’t need to be a new post it could be one from last year, but if it’s a seasonal celebration bake it should be appropriate – so no Easter cakes at Christmas :), save them for springtime.

Posts must include the Celebration Cakes & Bakes badge (grab the code below) and a link back to this page http://jaisee.com/mummymakescakes/celebration-cakes-bakes/

Please comment on a few of the other entries – remember linkys only work if you spread the linky love!

That’s it everything else is optional.

If you follow me on twitter @jaisee_mummy and tweet me with the hashtag #CelebrationCakesAndBakes I will retweet any entries that I see.

Your rainbow cakes are adorable, and what lovely birthday cakes in your round up. There would have been some very happy bellies! I’ve added your challenge to a list of UK blogging linkys I am compiling, so I won’t forget about it! I have a birthday cake to blog this month, so that should be up this month. 🙂
